This webinar marking the International Day of the Midwife 2026 explored what happens when midwives serve as the main care provider for women and babies throughout pregnancy, childbirth, and the postnatal period.

Practitioners from Australia, Ethiopia, South Africa and Sweden shared what these models look like in practice, and how they contribute to improving maternal and newborn health.

The webinar was organised by the World Health Association, in collaboration with the IBP Network.
