Webinar series: Strengthening product ecosystems for maternal & newborn health

Quality care requires the right provider, delivering the right care, with the right health products, in the right environment. Every Woman Every Newborn Everywhere supports countries to move beyond mere availability of health products, to focus on functional access, which entails a supportive policy environment, quality products, service readiness, and last-mile delivery. A central challenge to achieving consistent access, however, remains the fragmentation of the product access ecosystem at global, national and subnational levels, a factor even more acute in the current scenario of diminishing resources.

EWENE is hosting a four-part webinar series – organized by Unitaid and Concept Foundation – to strengthen coordination, reduce fragmentation, and create a common language of improved access to quality MNH products. This series will create a dedicated space for dialogue across the many dimensions of access, creating an understanding of the interdependencies of the technical, regulatory, and operational elements of a well-functioning product access system.

Our second webinar in this series, Quality Without Compromise: Ensuring Safe Products for Every Woman and Every Newborn, took participants along the maternal and newborn health (MNH) product journey – from production to patient – illustrating how bottlenecks in manufacturing, regulation, and post-marketing surveillance can undermine quality and trust.

Through real-world examples and expert insights, the session highlighted practical actions to strengthen quality systems and ensure that every product reaching mothers and newborns is safe and effective, every time. The discussion will emphasise shared responsibility, collaboration, and continuous improvement as essential to protecting lives and advancing equity in MNH care globally.

Our first webinar in this series, Product Access Equity for Every Mother and Every Newborn, brought togther global, regional, and national perspectives to tackle the challenge of sustainable MNH product access head-on. It explored what alignment and coordination within the global MNH product ecosystem really mean — and how countries, donors, and partners can work from the same playbook to build a more connected, responsive system.
