In 2023, during the first IMNHC, 29 countries committed to accelerate progress for maternal and newborn deaths and reduce stillbirth. More countries have joined them since to meet the EWENE targets, and bend the curve for maternal and newborn deaths and stillbirth.

Three years on, at IMNHC2026, 40 of these countries that have developed an EWENE Acceleration plan will gather for EWENE Day, on 27 March, together with professional associations, donors and UN agencies, and take stock of their progress. They will:

  • Reflect on key takeaways from the conference most relevant to the country context
  • Review progress against EWENE targets and national MNH commitments
  • Share key achievements, successful experiences and lessons learned
  • Agree on 3–5 strategic priorities for the next 24 months.
