In 2026, Pakistan’s Maternal and Newborn Health Acceleration Plan prioritizes the following:
Develop and implement district level maternal and newborn health acceleration plans supported by regular review and monitoring.
Strengthen and scale-up newborn & child health care services at community and facility levels in districts with high needs (in particular home-based newborn care, emergency newborn care, sick and small newborn care, integrated management of neonatal and childhood illnesses).
Build capacity for quality antenatal care and respectful intrapartum care at all levels of healthcare delivery in districts with high needs, including midwifery models of care.
Update the Reproductive, maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health (RMNCAH) strategic action plan 2026-35 with costing and advocate for the integration of key RMNCAH services into existing national social safety nets.
Strengthen the use of data for decision making at all levels of healthcare delivery system (public & private) through existing routine HMIS and enhanced digitization (eMR, DHIS-2, LMIS, AI-based programs, telemedicine, integrated dashboard).
